This wonderful piece of Russian lace was was worked by Margaret Pankhurst.

Margaret Writes;-
This piece is Russian lace, 25 inches in diameter. The pattern is called Northern Lights and is from the book "Russian Lace Patterns" by Anna Korableva and Bridget Cook. The pricking was half size in the book so was increased 200% in photocopying. The linen thread used was Bockens 35/3 and the gimp was Perle 5. My husband, Terry, designed a special pillow for it, with a static centre and 2 quarter boards which could be moved round as needed. It also had a very useful small board attached to the edge that could be moved around the circumference to support the bobbins at the edge of the work.

The whole project took me 2 and a half years to complete with 3 other lace pieces progressing at the same time. I'm nothing if not a glutton for punishment! I must say that I am rather proud of this piece, however.
