Duchesse Mat
Margaret Hudson sent details of this lovely parasol.

The frame was bought on Ebay and came covered in very shredded black silk with a wide frill of very beautiful black machine made lace. I managed to get some sort of pattern from the damaged covering but I did a least four practice coverings before I felt I had the right shape.
The lace pattern that I used was adapted from an old Bucks pattern(not by me!). I made two lengths, one wider than the other each 72 pattern repeats long which took me two years to complete. The thread I used was Pipers silk 140/2 with 90/3 Gimp.
Putting the parasol together took four whole days and it had its first and so far only outing on June21st to my daughter's silver wedding anniversary luncheon party.
